Missing 'Upload Multiple Documents'

If you are missing the 'Upload Multiple Documents' from your document library and you have Office 2003 or later installed on the client, it is most likely that you have Client Integration disabled.

If a site is using forms based authentication, then client integration is turned off by default. You can enable it by going to: CA --> Application Management --> Authenticaiton Providers --> Edit Authentication.

Scroll all the way down.

COSSUG Presents: Gary Lapointe

Gary Lapointe will be presenting at the Colorado Springs, SharePoint User's Group on Oct. 10th, 2008.

The topic for the evening will be: Using and Creating STSADM Commands

SharePoint provides a great, user-friendly, interface for configuring and managing the product but what do you do when you need to go beyond what the browser interface provides you or when you want to script the configurations (perhaps you want to automate your install)? To accommodate these needs Microsoft has provided an extensible command line tool called STSADM. Some of the configurations that STSADM supports cannot even be done via the OOTB web interface. And, if you’re unable to find a command that suits you then you can easily extend the tool by creating your own command which can work seamlessly with the built-in commands. This presentation will discuss the details of what STSADM is and some tips for using it, some common commands that demonstrate the power of the tool, and how to build your own custom STSADM extensions along with some best practices to consider when using or building commands. There’ll be lots of great stuff for both administrators and developers!

Get Rid of the WID

Uninstall / Reinstall / Repair the Windows Internal Database (WID) aka Sql Server Embedded Edition (SSEE)

If you do a basic or standalone install in WSS 3.0, you will be using the Windows Internal Database. This database is a variation of SQL Express. The advantage is the 4GB limit has been removed. This makes it a better option than SQL Express.

Now... if you have to reinstall your WSS or something get hosed along the way, the database can be your worst nightmare!!! Your install can fail at step 1, 2, or 5. This is how you get past the demons!!!

These files are stored @ C:\WINDOWS\SYSMSI\SSEE\MSSQL.2005\MSSQL

If you only have WSS installed on this machine, turn off the SSEE Service and wack these guys.

Now, you will need to uninstall the WID. Open up a cmd window and paste in the correct line below.

x86:
msiexec /x {CEB5780F-1A70-44A9-850F-DE6C4F6AA8FB} CALLERID=ocsetup.exe

x64:
msiexec /x {BDD79957-5801-4A2D-B09E-852E7FA64D01} CALLERID=ocsetup.exe

Make sure WSS is uninstalled. Reboot. And reinstall. You will now be able to make it through step 10!!!

I hope you found this post early in your struggle. Many people tend to kill their OS and start over. Now you don't have to.

SharePoint User Group - Sept 2008

Our last meeting was held on September 2, 2008. This was our very first SharePoint User’s Group for the Colorado Springs area. We had a very nice showing and I got to meet some great new people. I presented on SharePoint Search and have posted the slide deck in the ‘Find a Presentation’ area.

Our meeting overlaps with the .NET User's Group so we will be moving it to another night. Our plans are to host the SharePoint User's Group on the second Wednesday of every month.
